These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of findenglish.de (the "Website"), operated by Bartosz Popko – FindEnglish, Heinrich-Böll-Straße 40, 81829 Munich, Germany ("FindEnglish", "we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the Website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.

1. What FindEnglish Is

FindEnglish is an independent, informational directory that curates and presents listings of English-speaking service providers in Germany, to help expatriates and international residents find relevant professionals (such as doctors, banks, tax advisors, and other local services). FindEnglish is not a booking platform, agency, or party to any transaction between users and listed providers.

2. Eligibility

The Website is intended for general audiences. If you are under the age of 16, you should only use the Website with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian, in accordance with applicable data protection law.

3. Directory Listings — No Endorsement

We do not verify, certify, or guarantee the quality, availability, licensing, or suitability of any service provider listed on the Website. Inclusion of a listing does not constitute a recommendation or endorsement by FindEnglish. You are solely responsible for independently verifying any provider before engaging their services. Any agreement, transaction, or dispute arising from your interaction with a listed provider is strictly between you and that provider — FindEnglish is not a party to it and accepts no liability arising from it.

4. Accounts and Signing In

Certain features of the Website, such as submitting a review, require you to sign in using a third-party authentication provider (Google, via our authentication infrastructure provider Supabase). By signing in, you authorize us to access the basic profile information (such as your name and email address) needed to create and manage your account and attribute your reviews. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activity under it. You may request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us at the email address below; please note that previously submitted reviews may be retained in de-identified form as described in our Privacy Policy.

5. User Reviews

If you submit a review, you agree that:

  • Your review reflects your genuine, personal experience with the relevant service provider;
  • You will not post content that is false, defamatory, abusive, discriminatory, unlawful, or that infringes the rights of any third party;
  • You will not post reviews on behalf of a business you own or are affiliated with, or in exchange for payment or other inducement, without clearly disclosing this;
  • You grant FindEnglish a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, reproduce, and distribute your review on the Website and in related promotional materials.

Reviews are moderated before publication. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to reject, edit, or remove any review that violates these Terms, is reported to us as inaccurate or abusive, or that we otherwise reasonably believe to be problematic. If you are a listed service provider and believe a review about your business is false or violates these Terms, please contact us at the email below with details; we will review the complaint and respond within a reasonable time, and may temporarily hide the review while we investigate.

6. Paid Listings

Service providers may purchase a Featured or Partner listing package as described on our Pricing page. Paid listings receive enhanced visibility and additional features but do not constitute editorial endorsement, and do not guarantee any specific volume of leads, clicks, or business outcomes. Fees, billing terms, and cancellation policies for paid listings are set out at the point of purchase.

7. Affiliate Links

Some links on the Website are affiliate links. If you sign up for or purchase a product or service through such a link, FindEnglish may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence which providers are listed or how they are ranked or presented. See our Impressum for further disclosure.

8. Acceptable Use

When using the Website, you agree not to: (a) scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Website other than through means we explicitly permit (e.g. standard search engine indexing); (b) attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Website or its underlying systems; (c) use the Website to transmit malware or engage in any activity that disrupts or degrades the Website; or (d) impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.

9. Intellectual Property

The Website's design, text, graphics, logos, and underlying software are the property of FindEnglish or its licensors and are protected by German and international copyright law, except where individual listings' content is provided by third-party service providers. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the Website's content beyond what copyright law permits, without our prior written consent.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Website and its content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any information (including listing details, prices, or contact information) is accurate, complete, or current. Content on the Website is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute legal, medical, financial, or tax advice.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, FindEnglish shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Website or any listed service provider. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under German law, including liability for intent (Vorsatz) or gross negligence (grobe Fahrlässigkeit), or for injury to life, body, or health.

12. Changes to the Website and These Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Website at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time to reflect legal, technical, or operational changes; the current version will always be available at this URL. Continued use of the Website after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding its conflict-of-law provisions. To the extent permitted by law, the exclusive place of jurisdiction for any disputes arising from these Terms is Munich, Germany. Mandatory consumer-protection provisions of your country of residence, if more favourable to you, remain unaffected.

14. Dispute Resolution

We are not obligated or willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a German consumer arbitration board (Verbraucherschlichtungsstelle). The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
